Mission and Purpose The mission of Boyne United is to provide a positive and challenging life experience through recreational and competitive soccer for the Boyne area and Northern Lower Michigan by participation in local, regional and state league and tournament play. Its purpose is to promote mental and physical fitness, develop self and community pride, teach sportsmanship and to provide the youth of the Boyne area the opportunity to participate in an organized program of soccer. The activity is dedicated to the teaching of the skills of soccer, as well as an understanding and appreciation of the game. Good physical health habits and good mental attitudes shall be encouraged for all participants in Boyne United programs. To achieve its mission and purpose the Boyne United shall specifically seek:- To provide a comprehensive youth soccer program for all youth within our defined geographic boundaries. - To encourage and provide for parental and community support in the instructional and competitive aspects of a youth soccer program. - Through such a program, to support the growth and development of our youth and the development of the sport of soccer. - Boyne United shall not discriminate nor condone discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin. - Boyne United may be an affiliated league of and comply with the authority of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and the United State Soccer Federation (USSF). Offered Programs U10 through U19 TeamsTravel teams will form based on age groups. The soccer atmosphere for games and practices becomes more exclusive at this level and it is extremely important for players to master the skills and fundamentals needed to progress in select soccer at the older ages. Practices are typically twice a week and teams will compete in the Northern Michigan Soccer Alliance with games falling on weekends. Girls play on Saturdays, Boys play on Sundays. Related Premier Programs Petoskey Breakers: Set up for all girls attending high school at a public, private, or home setting. The team competes in the Michigan State Premier League or as a tournament team during the Fall season. This program is set up to compete against other teams from the Detroit metro area, Mid-Michigan, and greater Lansing and Grand Rapids areas. Practices will be three times a week August through early October, and games take place on the weekends. Petoskey Lakers: Set up for all boys attending high school at a public, private, or home setting. The team competes in the Michigan State Premier League during the Spring season. This program is set up to compete against other teams from the Detroit metro area, Mid-Michigan, and greater Lansing and Grand Rapids areas. Games take place on the weekends with half of the games scheduled at home and half away.
